Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.
Fans can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
