The artist has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the trust for venues, which functions to save the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

The star was given the award on 16 October as his third album the album was declared the top album of the previous year.

The musician has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function local spots played in his beginning days.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the area, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These venues are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, major artists including the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports independent venues.

Sam Fender also participated, raising in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help thirty-eight local spots across the UK.

The money helped locations that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues stemming from flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Other venues were granted funding support in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and fans.

"The idea that funds from performances in major spaces helps the smaller venues, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

And winners that year the group gave their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the illness.

"The victory was sufficient," stated vocalist Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the cake. So our winning affected another person's life."

In the past week, the trust revealed it had protected two grassroots venues in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The first in Southampton and the other in the city were bought under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who acquire "ownership units" in the buildings.
