Presence
The acclaimed director pushes his film-making abilities with this innovative ghostly tale shot entirely through the eyes of a ghost. As a family featuring mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe settles into their fresh home, the filming device – AKA the Presence – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of sensing the poltergeist, and it looks like defensive toward her. But why? This is an entertaining concept that remains concise, with a twist that may be unexpected. This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for greed in Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top film adaptation about the fallen televangelist and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield plays the corrupt Bakker, who states initially, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple set about capitalizing on the people's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, though Chastain manages to present Tammy Faye in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, Film4
